Lord Who Is Concerned!
"I will lead on slowly at a pace which the livestock that go before me, and the children, are able to endure." (Genesis 33:14)
Jacob was always concerned about his livestock; he has loving concern towards his children. If so how our Lord will be so much concerned about us! Jacob knew about his livestock, he knew that his children could walk slowly. He never wanted to hasten them to walk fast above all that they were able; instead he desired to lead them slowly.
Dear friend, never does our Lord compel you to do things that you are unable to do, nor does He force you to do those things which are beyond your reach. He knows very well to which extent you shall be able to lead a holy life and He leads you in the holy path. It is to make you holy, Jesus shed His innocent blood on the Cross, yes, it is to keep you without spot and blemish He has given in your hands the Holy Bible and you are acquainted in fellowship with the children of God; He has poured His Spirit of prayer in you.
`No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it' (1 Corinthians 10:13).
A father never insists his son, who is just five years old to eat 70 loaves of bread at a time, knowing pretty well his son is able to consume only two loaves at a time. But on the other hand, if his son playfully wanders without eating that two loaves of bread which he is able, he (his father) lovingly commands him `Oh, if only you eat this bread, you shall be healthy. Therefore, my son, come and eat it' he says.
Jacob, before a few years, wandered in the same path alone searching for the house of Laban. Then he is returning with his wife, children, flocks and herds which are nursing. How great are his loving kindness and what humility is seen in slowing down his speed to the level of his children!
Dear friend, you are walking with Christ, you are walking with Him in this path of wilderness. Jesus has set a model life for you, Christ is our example that we should follow His steps' (1 Peter 2:21).
